This lovely elegant art is more than it seems. The artwork examines the association of porcelain with refinement and civilization turned on itself when broken into shards.
This is a refined and elegant Porcelain piece. A whole from the shards is recreated, estranged from its original context, but nonetheless unified by an overall cohesiveness of movement and composition.
The artist was born and raised in a Kibbutz in the northern part of Israel. She earned her MA at the Royal College of Art (UK) and completed her BFA from the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design (Jerusalem). Her work is found in many private collections around the world.
She lives and works in Los Angeles, California.
This piece is made with 100% natural materials. The material is made from a cactus called maguey and it is quite an elaborate process to make.

It's a fascinating process but the creation of the material is disappearing as it is being replaced by plastic string. Unfortunate since plastic string is unfriendly to the environment.
The wood frame is hand made from Mahogany (Caoba) which is sourced from a sustainable tree farm run in Rio Dulce, Guatemala.
