Meet Your New Favorite Artist: Art from Porcelain Shards by Trish Garrett Fox

Our Israeli artist makes a powerful statement when she breaks porcelain into thin shards and reassembles it into amazing compositions.

"Her work examines the beauty and brutality of the natural world. Her sculptural language is informed by her surrounding environment and landscapes, and engages with themes of memories, identity, and place. The association of porcelain with refinement and civilization is turned on itself when broken into shards. In her organic formations, a whole from the shards is recreated, estranged from its original context, but nonetheless unified by an overall cohesiveness of movement and composition."

Her incredible creations remind of us of sea plants, flowers or desert trees.  Her neutral tones with tiny hits of color look good in almost any environment.  Contact us today to purchase one of her amazing pieces or create a custom installation!  See some options below:

Original Photographs of Iconic Locations as Icebreakers with Repeat Patients by Trish Garrett Fox

OUTPATIENT WOUND CARE SERVICES - Regional Medical Center, 4,225 square feet

Artwork for Outpatient Wound Care Services Employs Beautiful Photographs of Major Cities as Conversation Starters for Patients with Many Visits. Public Lands Imagery Soothes Patients.

BRIEF:

Inside a plexiglass tube filled with pressurized oxygen, patients rest on a bed, talk on the phone, watch a movie, sleep or are soothed by art while they heal, chronic wounds in 90-minute increments.

This is using hyperbaric oxygen therapy, now being introduced to local patients, at this Regional Medical Center, five days a week.

'Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is a therapy that enhances the body's natural healing process by putting the patient in an enclosed environment in which he or she inhales 100% oxygen.  The result is that the amount of oxygen in the patient's blood is increased, which in turn restores the normal levels of blood gases and tissue function to promote healing and fight infection. HBOT is an effective therapy that is used to supplement other advanced wound care treatments.'

Used for several decades, hyperbaric oxygen therapy allows patients to heal in 20 to 30 sessions as they breathe 100 percent oxygen.

PLAN:

Art needs to reflect iconic locations ranging from destination cities to national parks in exam rooms with soothing nature images in reception, waiting, corridors and doctor's office. These iconic locations will serve as conversation starters, as patients visit these locations in exam rooms, with doctors and nurses during their many repeat visits.

PROCESS:

FAM lead a brief scoping meeting to uncover the needs of the various stakeholders, provided an exciting selection of art options presented digitally, complemented by a presentation of original fine art to support the objective. Professional art services included, locating the art on the client's floor plan, scaling the artwork per location for variety and a customized look and met the quick turn-around. Project management services included professional security installation and installation supervision.

Wall Sculptures Add Texture and Meaning for Design Firm by Trish Garrett Fox

Our third show of beautiful art, displayed in this prestigious Architecture/Design firm in Santa Monica, opened last week.

"Obsolete books and artist papers are re-formed, assembled, stitched, and mended into new objects. As tangible vessels of language and ideas, books as materials impart both content and form." --L.O.

The artists says of her piece, Lacrimaria (for Paris): A lacrimarium is a tiny, hand-blown, glass vessel of the Roman era that was used to collect the tears of mourners, then buried with the deceased. The artist says of her work: Paris is personally significant to me, having studied and lived there as a student; it indelibly shaped me as a person and an artist. When the November 2015 tragedy struck Paris, I was moved to make this pod sculpture. It consists of 40 small vessels (for the 20 arrondissements plus the 20 years I was when I was there) made from a variety of French texts to signify the human sounds of the city, the voices and the messages that make a city’s thrum. A transparent aquarelle of blue is painted inside, with seven pods leafed in silver. A path of stitching runs through the forms signifying life and repair and endurance.

The folding of materials fascinates since it is such a simple way of manipulating a material and giving it a subtle dimension. These pieces are called Momenti since each circle, with edges folded, contains a moment (an image or excerpt) and collectively, when assembled en masse, they become a fuller story.

Murals, Wall Tattoos and More! by Trish Garrett Fox

You hear a lot about art being put directly onto walls these days-whether it's painted, stenciled, tattooed or adhered.  There are so many exciting possibilities. We are here to help you navigate your options and get the results you love...don't miss this opportunity to choose something new for your project.

Nothing creates a bigger impact than dramatic floor to ceiling paintings. With so many talented artists and knowledge, innovation and critical thinking utilizing cutting edge hardware, software and materials, we will get you something customized, exactly to your needs that won't break the bank.

Street Murals:

If you have an outdoor wall, this is a powerful option. A mural can be used for directional purposes, people won't miss it and you can enhance the community by bringing something beautiful to the public. You can include signage or simply attract attention to your location with unique imagery. These walls are a mecca for photo ops with tourists, locals and back drops for photo shoots, alike.  The best part? They don't cost as much as you'd think...

Indoor Wall Murals:

The sky is really the limit here.  We hire artists to create a custom design for the whole wall or any portion of it.  And we can print on almost any substrate, with reasonable pricing, up to 2" deep, add CNC and/or die cutting and install directly to the wall or create a product-such as a chandelier - don't forget the ceiling ;) http://www.fineartmatters.com/partner-substrate-printing/.

Wall Tattoos:

The wall tattoo is the simplest and the least expensive option.  These are painted with a stencil or adhered to the wall and the background wall color is used as a main element in the design.  The art is minimal, and the impact big. Here are some simple ones we like:

Glass Mosaic Mural Downtown LA by Trish Garrett Fox

Fine Art Created through the City of Los Angeles Arts Development
Fee
Program: Beautiful Paintings Become Glass Exterior Mosaic Architectural Features
Los Angeles, CA
148,000 square feet

THE PROJECT: located in the heart of the Fashion District in Downtown Los Angeles, is a wholesale showroom building. It is a multi-level complex with 132 commercial condominium units on three above ground levels with four subterranean levels. This building is a prime spot for buyers, ranging from local retailers to high-end department stores for everything related to fashion.

THE ART: needs to be scaled to the exterior architectural alcoves of the building, the subject matter being of particular importance to the building’s owner. Six exterior alcoves are 26’Hx11’W and are a configuration of two triptychs; one triptych each for the North/East and South/East corners of the building. Four additional exterior alcoves are 26’Hx22’W, two each on the North and South building exteriors.

FAM PROCESSES: Project Management services included submitting renderings and budget details of the artwork to be executed for credit toward the Arts Development Fee obligation to the Department of Cultural Affairs. Final Reporting Documents were submitted and terms of the Final Art Plan were met. The artwork plan includes identification plaques installed on visible locations of the building exterior. Art Design services included art selections presented to support the Client’s objectives. Commissioning art; guiding the commission process and leading meetings between artist and client. Production Management Services included finding appropriate vendors to create the tile murals and plaques as well as interviewing and vetting installers for quality of product and accountability; coordination of receipt of art; framing of original final paintings for client's office and delivery and security installation of framed art. The desired completion date was met.

Mosaic Mural

ARTWORK:

  1. The Angel triptychs on the corners of the building’s exterior celebrate Los Angeles, joyously reminding us of the profound name, the “City of Angels,” that was given to the city.
  2. The murals depict renowned international cities known for their forward thinking fashion industry, unique iconography and memorable beauty. Los Angeles and Paris are depicted on the North building exterior, with New York and Milan depicted on the South building exterior. With Los Angeles architecture, fashionable lifestyle, arts and cultural organizations, these murals celebrate Los Angeles as an international innovator on par with the most renowned cities in the world.
  3. Ten paintings were commissioned as custom designs. The aesthetic is enhanced with the choice of glass tiles as the selected medium.

OUTCOME:

  1. The paintings were translated by 5/8”x 5/8” tesserae glass mosaic tiles made in Italy to create the detail of the imagery in a pixel technique.
  2. The medium interprets the subject matter and our perception of the subject matter, and comes to life when viewed from various distances and vantage points.
  3. The mosaics are installed on the outside of the building for all to enjoy.
